What better way for your child to explore the performing arts for the first time and discover if acting is something they love?
Our free acting workshops are designed for kids and teens with a wide range of ages, personalities, and interests in the performing arts. Whether your child loves using their imagination, wants to experience the excitement of acting on stage, or is curious about what it’s like to perform in front of a camera, there’s a workshop for them.
No previous acting experience is necessary. These workshops are all about having fun, trying something new, building confidence, and experiencing the creative and collaborative world of acting.
Here’s what we’re offering this Labor Day Weekend:
A fun-filled introduction to acting and the creative arts designed especially for our youngest performers!
During this 60-minute workshop, kids will play together through fun theater games, character creation and improvisation, encouraging them to tap into their imaginations and express their creativity.
They’ll learn to listen, respond, make creative choices, and work together as a team—all in a playful, supportive, and collaborative environment.
It’s a wonderful first taste of acting for little ones who love to pretend, play and use their imaginations!

What does it actually feel like to act in a movie?
This special 90-minute workshop takes place inside Lawton Academy’s on-site TV production studio, where actors will explore the unique—and magical—craft of acting in close-up and on camera.
The workshop begins with an introduction to the TV studio and the important differences between acting for the stage and acting for the screen. Actors will then work in pairs to rehearse a scene from a movie before stepping onto the set and filming their scene in our production studio.
And the experience doesn’t end when the workshop does!
Following the workshop, the scenes will be professionally edited, sound mixed and color-corrected and shared with the actors and their parents in the days following the workshop—giving each participant the opportunity to watch their finished scene and see their work on screen!
