Filmmaking Classes

Whether your child is picking up a camera for the first time or ready to take their movie making skills to the next level, we’ve got a class for them! Our current lineup of courses includes:

  • Movie Making for Kids (ages 8–10 & 11-13)

  • Teen Filmmaker’s Club (ages 13–19)

MOVIE MAKING FOR KIDS

For creative kids who love to make movies, or want to learn how!

This class meets once per week for two hours.  Over the course of the 14-week semester, our young movie makers will learn how to:

  • Operate a professional movie camera.
  • Add lighting to make a scene look Hollywood great! 
  • Capture quality sound recordings
  • Plan and organize for a movie shoot
  • Film in a green screen TV studio
  • Remove green backgrounds and create stunning virtual worlds
  • Edit your film in our Digital Arts Lab
  • Color correct and maximize the look of your movie
  • Layer music into your movie and bring it to life!
    • Family and friends will be invited to a premiere screening of the movies the kids have produced during the session!


This class is 2-hours, held once per week, and is for kids 8-13.  The all-inclusive cost for our 14-week semester is $1,200.

SCHEDULE:

  • GROUP A: FOR AGES 8-10. WEDNESDAYS @ 4PM
  • GROUP B: FOR AGES 11-13. WEDNESDAYS @ 6PM

TEEN FILMMAKER'S CLUB

For teenagers longing to learn how to make their own short film! 

Taught by a member of The Producer’s Guild of America, this course meets 3-hrs weekly across an entire semester and is for teens with a yearning to dive into the filmmaking process. Over the course of the session, students will learn:

  • How to operate professional 4K cinema cameras
  • How lenses work and how lens selection affects the look of a shot
  • Basic lighting technique
  • Basic audio/sound recording technique
  • How to plan and schedule for an upcoming shoot
  • Techniques for filming striking b-roll on location
  • How to produce a documentary-style interview
  • How green screen studio production works
  • Basic film editing techniques
  • Image color correction and audio mixing techniques
  • How to select then integrate music into your edit
    • Parents and friends will be invited to a premiere screening of the film produced during the session!


Each class is 3-hours, held once per week, and is for teens 13-19.  The all-inclusive cost for our 14-week semester is $1,600.

EDITING MOVIES

Learn pro editing techniques to shape scenes, add effects, mix sound, and tell powerful visual stories.

In this hands-on class, young filmmakers dive into the exciting world of post-production, learning how to shape raw footage into a polished, powerful final cut. Using industry-standard tools and techniques, students will explore the art of storytelling through editing.

In this class, participants will:

  • Learn the fundamentals of editing for film and video

  • Review and select the best moments of performance from raw footage

  • Use editing to shape pacing, tone, and story

  • Practice color correction and green screen removal

  • Mix audio and apply music, sound effects, and voiceover

  • Add transitions, titles, and visual effects

  • Gain experience with professional editing software

No prior editing experience needed—just a passion for movies and storytelling!

Each class is 2-hours and held once per week across a full semester.  The all-inclusive cost for our 14-week semester is $1,200.
